学英语是有期徒刑，什么时候出狱和你的单词储备量多少有关。背到那个点，就冲出了大气层，就飘起来了，释放!
柯林斯系列词典搞word bank，就是词库，提出一个“95%理论”：在词典上把单词按照五星到一星的标准分级标出，并声称，把这个都背完，就能95%搞定阅读!
也就是说，阅读时能达到每100个单词里仅有五个不认识的水平。
后来，我又为新西兰的语言学专家Paul Nation的多篇论文所折服。他说，98%才行。98%的.意思是，你每看50个单词，才有一个不认识，这就基本不影响阅读了。
按照英语行均13个单词计算，就是看四行才有一个生词，妥!95%那个标准还是不行，20个单词里就有一个不认识，说明不到两行就会碰到一个生词，读不下去啊!
经过大量研究，Paul Nation的结论是，要想达到98%的标准，读小说需要掌握9000个单词，读报刊需要掌握8000个单词。
我非常同意这个观点。大家的词汇量按一般水平来说应该在3000左右，这样算下来还需要记6000个词。
