Jo: And today’s slang word is ‘flop’ F-L-O-P flop
Sun Chen: 這個詞兒的本來意思就是撲通的`一下倒下。
Jo: Yes, but here it’s a noun, used to talk about something which wasn’t very successful.
Sun Chen: 這麼説這個詞當名詞使的時候,説的是什麼事兒不太成功。那都用這個詞兒説哪些事兒不成功呢?
Jo: It’s often used to talk about entertainment – films, plays, pop songs and so on which weren’t very successful.
Sun Chen: 要想知道怎麼來用這個俚語flop,我們來聽聽下邊這段。

Despite huge investment, the latest film from the production company was a complete flop in terms of box-office sales, and critical reviews.
Sun Chen: 這個flop,用在這兒,是説一個雖然投資很大,但是卻並不成功的一部電影。

Jo: No, it can be used to talk about other things too, for example politics.
